Historic Thologolong Angus Stud Announces Partial Dispersal
Kerrie Sutherland, Vice President of the Aberdeen-Angus Breeders Association, today announced the partial dispersal of her Thologolong Angus Stud herd to respected Angus breeder Damian Vandeberg of Cobram, VIC.
Thologolong is the oldest registered Angus stud in Australia, established by Kerrie’s family five generations ago. Reflecting on the decision, Kerrie said:
“This was not a decision I took lightly. When the right breeder came along, I felt ready to part with some of my loyal matrons. I’m thrilled that Damian has taken the herd on. He has been a long-time Angus breeder and attended our annual Field day at Cloverleaf Angus, Yarrawonga hosted by the O’Kane family in 2025. “From little things BIG things grow” Amongst the top Thologolong genetics , Damain has secured females from the famous Thologolong sire Think Big and Think Twice winning Grand Champion Bull three years consecutive at Melbourne Royal, other grand sires come from the well-known Sparta stud from the Monaro
The Aberdeen-Angus Breeders Association warmly welcomes Damian, whose passion and dedication will help continue the legacy of preserving foundation Angus genetics while promoting sustainable, grass-finished beef production.
“Thologolong cattle are traditional cattle,” Kerrie added. “We have always placed a strong emphasis on Australian and New Zealand bloodlines. While we don’t introduce North American genetics, we don’t bury our heads and ignore what’s out there. Instead, we carefully and objectively measure and select animals that enhance our program, ensuring they suit the environment. For us, structural soundness, longevity, and temperament are absolutely key.”
